Character Building

Client Health and Wellness

Every day, Jeffery K. Rubenstein sees how preexisting problems lead people into the criminal justice system. And how that has catastrophic consequences for his clients, their families, careers, finances and reputation. And, especially heart rending, for juveniles. Too often they become statistics for recidivism. The revolving door in and out of juvenile hall, jail and prison. As an ethical attorney, Jeffery K. Rubenstein believes in helping his clients outside of court with their issues. He refers clients all the time to a proven network of psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors, counselors, mental health and addiction specialists, treatment centers and support groups. One of the resources he has recommended was founded by a colleague in LA and former Law Professor, Michael Josephson.

Josephson Institute of Ethics

In 1992, Michael Josephson retired from practicing and teaching law. He began ground breaking research into building character. And derived a culturally neutral formula of 6 values that form the bases of ethically defensible decisions and foundations of well lived lives. He calls these 6 common values, “Six Pillars of Character.” They are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and good citizenship. The goal is to improve civility and develop ethical leaders throughout the world. Recently, Michael Josephson retired with 100,000 grateful clients and transferred his practice to a branch of Drake University.
